New toy!

Ohhhhh... I have a new discovery that I am now willing to share with you all (cackle, cackle!)

Following an impressive London debut gig at Madame Jo Jo's last night (almost as good as a certain Pornovurt's in October.....!) I think everyone should be watching this little lot, Suzerain.

They're young, cute as buttons, and write very catchy tunes that will bother your head for days. In fact, as every person on my friends list is here through a musical connection, I think you should all take a few minutes out to have a listen to the free MP3's and lemme know what you think. Live, they are a full band (drums, guitars, bass) and are in the middle of recording a new demo CD that will reflect this a little more than the website MP3's but you should still be able to form a good opinion from these.

So c'mon, who's going to be first then??

Re: guess I'm first. :)

Oh if you like Bowie you should like Suzerain! They rock! We're hoping to do a joint tour next year (or at least a few dates together!)

'How The West Was Won' is cool and clever. Like it.

'Be Alone' sounds like Erasure with added guitars. Not too keen on this one.

I can still hear Erasure in 'Neverland', but Bowie and The Beatles also, which adds interest but not quite enough to grab me personally.

On the whole, if it wasn't for your recommendation Nim, I'd not be inspired to see them live and/or investigate them further on the strength of these three songs. If the rest of their material is more like 'HTWWW' though, I could probably be brought round. :-)

Why thank you for joining in young siree!

These are quite old MP3's - they are literally recording more stuff as we speak so will soon be able to confirm which way their ships are musically sailing (or some other such nonsence phrases!)

Sorry cant see you Bowie thing at all... All seems a bit lightweight to me... How didi they get a NIN comparison?
I guess they must have more Umph live...
Nice voice.
Not grabbed.

i love their sound..
i definitely like "how the west was won" reminds me of the faint
and i'd have to agree that "be alone" and "neverland" sound alot like erasure
but thats good cuz erasure is good

Glad you liked it! The singer has quite a Bowie stage attitude as well :-)

Re: very cool

Well now you're just plain ol teasing me!
Sounds like they do a great show. Looking
forward to seeing them and Pornovurt someday
soon.

Makes me think of which Bowie presence I would like best on stage. I love Ziggy, but a night with the Thin White Duke would be fun too.

Suzerain

while making myself all witchy for a party this afternoon, Joad played the How the West was Won. I thought it was Lenny Kravitz. But before that I really liked them.

Re: Suzerain

Truth is, I like the guy. If he is on the radio in the car then I am singing, drumming on the steering wheel and just plain ol rockin out. But....... now I'm in an emotional flux about him since he made the Target commercial here in the states. It kinda makes him a sell out, and puts him as working for the same company that has hired the likes of Celine Dion and Amy Grant (yuckie!) But I do like the Suzerain song.

Re: Suzerain

Ahhhh I see... we haven't got the Target thing here (what is Target anyway?)

I do like Lenny, he's very talented, quite a groove! :-)

Re: Suzerain

Ah Target is a big department store here in the states. A place to buy a shirt and shampoo and maybe some laundry soap all in the same place.

I do agree Lenny does have quite a groove and some nice tattoos!
